One problem. A useful fix.
Get Python
moving again.
Python Repair Project: one bounded problem involving tests, APIs or deployment. A focused fix, a way to check it and clear handover notes.
Start with the error, what you expected and how to reproduce it.
Illustrative example / API timeout
$ python -m pytest -q
The API request has no timeout.
Fix: set a 10-second timeout.
- requests.get(url)
+ requests.get(url, timeout=10)
$ python -m pytest -q
1 failed11 passed before
12 passedafter the fix
Illustrative output only. Not client work.
01 / The scope
One agreed problem, end to end.
For example: a reproducible failing test, a broken API integration or a Python deployment error.
Included
- Reproduce and investigate one bounded Python problem.
- Implement the agreed repair.
- Add or update focused tests where appropriate.
- Check the agreed behaviour in the available environment.
- Hand over the changes, run instructions and known limits.
Not included
- A full application rebuild or multiple unrelated fixes.
- Open-ended feature development or refactoring.
- Ongoing hosting, maintenance or on-call support.
- Third-party subscriptions or infrastructure charges.
02 / How it works
A clear starting point. A checkable finish.
Plan for three working days once scope, code access and reproduction steps are ready. I will confirm availability and dates in writing.
Check the fit
Send the error, relevant context and expected behaviour. I confirm the bounded problem, acceptance criteria, deliverables and fixed price before starting.
Repair and verify
I reproduce the issue, make the focused change and check it against the agreed criteria. If the investigation reveals a wider problem, I explain it before proposing extra work.
Hand over the fix
You receive the code changes, test or verification output and practical notes. Any further issues need a separate written scope. Production release arrangements are agreed explicitly.
03 / What you get
A fix you can check and maintain.
Your written fix note
The cause, the change and the checks.
Alongside the code changes, you receive a short written note covering:
- The causeWhat failed, how I reproduced it and what caused it.
- The change madeWhich code or configuration changed and why.
- The tests added or updatedWhat the focused checks cover, their results and anything I could not verify.
- How to verify the fixThe commands, setup and expected behaviour, plus any known limits.
Illustrative example: for an API timeout repair, the note would identify the missing timeout, explain the request change and describe a regression test and how to run it. This is an example of the handover, not client work or a verified test result.
04 / About me
Henry Williams.
I am Henry Williams, a sole trader in London, trading as Sparrow Works. I have completed one real paid job using Webflow, Zapier and Airtable. My own projects include EvalForge.
I am early in my working life. I take on clearly bounded work, agree what a successful result looks like and document what I have checked. You work directly with me.

What has stopped working?
Send the symptoms, expected result and preferred timing. I will confirm whether the problem fits the project.
